Course Overview
WHAT IS NEET ?
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, commonly known as NEET is a standardized, all-India level entrance examination conducted for students seeking admission to undergraduate medical courses (MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH) in India. The exam is administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Prior to NTA, NEET was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
WHO CAN APPLY
To be eligible for the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) exam, candidates must have completed or be appearing for their 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects. They must also meet the minimum percentage requirements in these subjects, which vary by category: 50% for General/EWS, 40% for OBC/SC/ST, and 45% for PwD. Additionally, candidates must be at least 17 years old by December 31st of the exam year, with no upper age limit. Indian citizens, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, and foreign nationals are eligible to apply.

Subjects in the qualifying exam must include Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English. - Minimum Marks:
General/EWS: 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology combined.
OBC/SC/ST: 40% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology combined.
PwD: 45% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology combined. - Age Limit:
Minimum age of 17 years as of December 31st of the exam year.
No upper age limit. - Nationality:
Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, and Foreign Nationals are eligible to apply. - Number of Attempts:
There are no restrictions on the number of attempts for the NEET exam.

SEAT AVAILABILITY

- The NEET UG 2025 results are out. Around 12.36 lakh students have cleared the exam, but India has just 1.18 lakh MBBS seats.
- As per the Medical Council of India's official data, 272 government MBBS colleges will offer a total of 41,388 medical seats to the candidates through NEET 2024, while 76,928 seats will be allotted through NEET in 532 government and private colleges.
